TREATMENT
Treatment of Dengue Fever depends on the symptoms of the person. Oral rehydration therapy, intravenous and blood transfusions are all types of treatments used to help cure Dengue Fever or Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and Shock Syndrome.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is used for lowering fever and discomfort. It is important to know that ibuprofen and aspirin can not be used because it might cause additional bleeding to the person.

PREVENTION
The prevention of Dengue Fever requires control or eradication of the mosquitoes carrying the virus that causes Dengue Fever.

The main method of controlling these mosquitos is by eliminating their habitats. This is done by keeping water containers dry and by adding insecticides or biological controls agents to areas where there is alot of water.

For more additional protection against Dengue Fever, you should use mosquito repellant sprays that contain DEET when visiting places where Dengue Fever is found. Wearing clothing that covers your skin is also a good way to prevent yourself from being biten by these harmful mosquitos.

Even though there is no vaccine for Dengue Fever, people have to do what they can to protect themselves from getting this horrible disease. There are a few vaccines that have been developed and are in the process of being tested. Hopefully these vaccines will be approved and ready by the year 2015.
